We support immigrants in our community by providing excellent, pro bono legal assistance to those who are most vulnerable and who have the fewest resources.

We help the
most vulnerable.

Legal status changes lives.

Restoration Immigration Legal Aid (RILA) is a Christian immigration advocacy center. We represent asylum-seekers and immigrant children in the Northern Virginia area who have experienced significant trauma and loss, having fled from their home countries to find protection and safety. Apart from RILA, our clients would likely navigate the immigration system on their own–a nearly impossible task, especially for non-English speakers, with few to no resources, who are recovering from severe trauma. Our clients are our neighbors who are seeking (and often struggling) to make a home here.

Find Resources

Your involvement opens doors.

It takes a community to invite someone into a community.

Legal services for our immigrant neighbors are just the first step. Whether you find yourself with a desire to donate, share your skills, host an event, or pray for our work as a Christian immigration advocacy center, it all makes a difference for individuals navigating the immigration system, ensuring that they have the resources to make themselves at home.

“As an Afghan refugee in the United States, I find great fulfillment in using my language and legal skills to support others who have faced similar challenges.”

“No matter how prepared and educated an asylum-seeker may be, or how strong their case is, the asylum process is always a long and arduous journey.”

“Volunteering has allowed me to connect with people who have vastly different experiences than my own and put faces and names behind news headlines or political debates.”
